Debbie's dad was in town this past week and we did some sightseeing while he was here. First stop was Will Rogers State Historic Park. An actor/cowboy/radio personality/newspaper columnist from the '20s and '30s, Will Rogers built a ranch in Santa Monica overlooking the ocean, with 31 rooms, a golf course, stable and polo field. The ranch is pretty much as it was when his wife died in 1944 (Will Rogers died in a plane crash in 1935), including the car above. We took the guided tour of the ranch house, which was quite interesting. While I couldn't get up the stairs to see some of the rooms, the wheelchair ramp to get in is at a back entrance so we got to see rooms that most people don't get to, like the kitchen and butler's quarters.
