What was I thinking?

Yesterday the staff asked the patients if they'd like to participate in today's Cinco De Mayo celebrations or do regular therapy. The celebrations included Karaoke and dancing, so I figured therapy would be a better bet. Little did I realize...

We started the day with stretching, and the original plan was for some wheelchair mobility exercises in a local park. Unfortunately the van we were supposed to use was in for service, so we ended up wheeling around the block. It was especially tough sledding because we were always on the right side of the road, with the sidewalk sloping down to the left. Even a little bit of a slope works one arm more than the other, and of course I ended up using my left arm - my weaker one - for the entire trip.

After lunch I practiced uneven transfers, some balance work and finally some different mat exercises that polished my elbow off nicely. I managed the transfers pretty good, especially considering how worn out I was, so the day ended on a good note. Next time they give us a choice of what to do for the day though, I'll think twice before choosing therapy!

  2. What was that phrase we always used to say, AT?
    "Oh geez...call the wahhmbulance..."

I'm not sure I could handle the karaoke deal. My migraines are very sensitive to sound...
