I've been swimming three times at the Aquatic Center now, and it's going...swimmingly. I can make it across the pool using the backstroke or breaststroke, but mastering the front crawl is turning out to be a bit difficult with lots of flailing about. We are still amazed at how easily I can float, which makes some things easier and some things more difficult. All the moving around in the water seems to be helping what little abdominal muscles I have work better, and the swimming is good exercise for some of my arm muscles that don't usually get much use.
Last week we visited our Canadian friends Steve and Chantale, and I got in and out of their pool without much trouble. It didn't take me long to find the water guns and get into trouble, of course. The swimming is turning out to be great fun as well as having many benefits, so I will keep at it. My instructor at the therapy pool says I will be able to go in the regular pool eventually and try swimming in one of the lanes.
That's truly marvelous Andrew!!!
